HOOK
Reclaimed Slate and Granite Sculpture
Based on a Polynesian symbol, this sculpture was created from reclaimed slate and granite. Another reflection of our passion for the sea.
Polynesian symbolism reflects a culture dependent on and respectful of the gifts and power of the sea.
‘Hei Matau’ or Fish Hook, is the symbol for strength, prosperity, abundance, fertility and respect for the sea.
This sculpture is suitable for display inside or outside. It’s heavy and nothing will change because of weathering. It’s also suitable for seating in water or partially buried in the ground with no detrimental effects.
IN A PAST LIFE….
The slate was carved from a panel off an old snooker table. We had the whole table, hence you’ll see a few slate sculptures by J.A.D. Eclectic.
The granite was a remnant of curbstones edging a new road. We had a few abandoned broken bits.
