Shou sugi ban is a Japanese wood treatment that involves burning the surface of wood to bizarrely, make it fire proof , insect proof and waterproof. We’ve oiled this to add a final finish.

The steel has been blasted and powder coated- an incredibly environmentally sound treatment that offers decades of wear alongside vibrant colour.

The hidden secret is a cross bar at the bottom of each triangle which gives the bench stability. Equally attractive inside or out, we’ve hidden the bar in these photographs because it amuses us…..
