SEA BENCH

SEA BENCH is an extremely heavy bench made from reclaimed super dense hardwood. The bench and feet are joined by steel rings with heavy glass tiles inlaid into the seat.

Sea defense wood has an incredible lifetime. It’s chosen for its ability to sit in the sea for years on end and hold back tides that weigh approximately 1 ton per cubic meter. That’s pretty tough……

This piece looks equally beautiful inside or out.

‘Durable’ doesn’t even begin to go there….

IN A PAST LIFE….

Both the wood and steel were off cuts during the refurbishment of North Norfolk’s sea defenses following extensive damage during the 2013 storms.

The steel rings were used to reinforce the ends of the piles to stop them splitting whilst being driven into the beach . Pile driving  into a beach at that time of year involved skillful dodging of the powerful wild winter tides.

The tiles were the remains of a house refurbishment, skip rescued during a previous lifetime…..
