WHERRY KNEE

Reclaimed English Oak and Stainless Steel

Bench or coffee table created from the reclaimed knee of a Norfolk Broads Wherry boat the Albion

The knee was replaced during a recent refurbishment and after a careful bit of cleaning up and sanding, was split into its two halves and laced together with stainless steel rods.

We’ve treated the wood with Danish oil. It’s up to you whether you use it outside and if you keep re-treating it or not. Over time this wood will go grey but the very high grade stainless steel won’t change.

WHERRY KNEE looks equally beautiful inside or out. It’s reasonably heavy and is a very tight grained English oak that has survived around 100 years sailing the Norfolk Broads virtually unscathed. We’re certain it will survive for many more decades or even centuries to come.

We like that, that’s why it’s been reinvented.

IN A PAST LIFE….

The wood was, as we said, part of a Norfolk Wherry boat, The Albion. We’ve added a link to their website so you can find out more about its origins.

The stainless steel was waste from a fabrication project for the oil and gas industry and is extremely high grade. It will retain its beauty for a long long time…..

Approximate measurements 1550 x 570 x 430 high. (The wooden top varies between 130 and 250 cm wide.)
