A WONDERFUL RECEPTION FOR J.A.D.
The best reception ever.
Thank you so much to everyone that came along to visit us in Holt and those of you who called in on passing by. It was a pleasure meeting you and hearing your various stories, comments and understanding of the need to make better use of what we already have.
It’s incredible how many people tell us about TV shows that promote the same sort of thing that we’re up to. EXCELLENT! ……. but I’m afraid we don’t watch TV, in fact we don’t even own one and as one gentleman so accurately mused, that’s probably why we get on and do what we do…..
Regardless, we are genuinely thrilled every time we inspire someone to re-use what they had thought of as waste and extremely pleased that the main stream media is encouraging upcycling.
THANK YOU JUDITH!
Also intrinsic to the enjoyment of our wonderful dip into the retail world, was our wonderful hostess Judith.
I had to add this in because she’s one of the most lovely, vivacious people we’ve come across AND, she makes the most wonderful cakes! We know because we sampled them…….If you fancy a truly splendid afternoon tea experience in Holt, we highly recommend her exquisitely styled tea rooms, The Folly Tea Rooms. We are avid lovers of Chai and their mix was second to none and great value without compromising quality.
We actually by far preferred it to ‘the other place’….. which is where people usually go in Holt.
WHAT DID WE LEARN?
- We’ve learnt that we’re not designed to be shop keepers although we thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone.
- We learned that there are a massive amount of people who love the items we come up with.
- That an awful lot of people feel their homes are too cluttered.
- That we do actually inspire people to open their minds to create things beyond what we’re told to like by the high street chains. We do find it a little sad though that people seem to need approval to think outside boxes…… Go on, be a devil, there’s lots of you at it now.
- That lots of you are disturbed by the amount of waste that is produced by consumerism.
- That we’re either extremely lucky or extremely stubborn and determined to live our lives working doing the things we love. A few wistful comments along similar lines by older people who perhaps in retrospect, might have done things according to their hearts a little more……..
