Back to The Art…..

JAD/ September 2, 2020/ Re purpose, redesign, recreate, renew.

WE JUST WANT TO SHARE A THING…..

We’ve spent the last couple of years splitting our time between our own artwork and a project that was set up jointly with friends that we were really quite passionate about.

But we’re back…. We decided to focus back on our art and design and living as sustainable lifestyle as possible.

None the less, we thought we’d share our leaving post because the concept behind The Magpie Club, now renamed Sanctuary Camping Club, is what we’re about.

Be well everyone xx

Putting some back into North Walsham’s Lovely Community…..

Myself, (April) and Jeff, are flying the Magpie Meadow Nest to new pastures. The meadow is up and running and now it’s time to return our focus to our Art and Design business, JAD Eclectic.

We couldn’t have done this without the support and approval of Magpie Meadow’s wonderful resident neighbors.

Jeff and I are delighted to announce that when Tina has finished totting up the figures, everything due to us will be going straight to an incredible local charity, the North Walsham Community Shop.

THE MAGPIE CLUB Becomes SANCTUARY CAMPING CLUB

www.sanctuarycampingclub.co.uk

I remain Chairman of the former Magpie Club which licenses Magpie Meadow and which has been renamed Sanctuary Camping Club. to better describe what we’re trying to achieve.

Jeff is the other Officer and we continue working side by side so we may well have the pleasure of meeting you at some point in the future to help launch your own venture.

WHERE IT BEGAN

Magpie Meadow was dreamed up by the 4 Magpies whilst camping wild in the corner of Tina’s dad’s field after the hay had been cut. That led to the 28 day campsite in 2019.

Over that winter, following a lot of work and brainstorming with Jeff, I managed to formulate the constitution, code of conduct and acquire references that brought the Magpie Club into being and subsequently obtain the Exemption Licenses from Natural England so that we could extend that experience to everyone.

Tina’s dad has offered endless support making everything function. He was behind making the toilet and shower block happen (which unfortunately couldn’t be used by campers this year due to Covid ). Michael supplied water to get all the sunflowers and plants going. Myself and Jeff were allowed to lock down on the meadow when we were ill for which we remain eternally grateful. Sorry Michael, the replacement hedge plants didn’t take but we’ll blame our novice gardening skills and dry weather for that! We tried….

AND THEN……

We have shared the joy of welcoming some absolutely beautiful people to stay with us a while. It’s just been a wonderful couple of years.

One of the most important things that has struck us over the last year especially, is the importance of facilitating retreat from the stresses and complications of modern life. We have tried to offer a peaceful, simplified environment where nature and humanity become prevalent. Especially in these times, we feel that the endless struggle for material gain or even just survival, overrides compassion and the simple joys of life. As such, we hope that the outcome of the current crisis will bring a positive, reformed outcome.

Meanwhile, we hold by that wonderful quote by Gandhi,

Be the change you want to see in the world’

which we continue to live by.

Sadly, dishonesty, jealousy and greed seem to have become accepted as part of our current culture. They nurture nothing but pain, paranoia and hatred. Those attitudes are divisive and tear people apart when we most need to support each other.

We believe that each and every person has an equal and beautiful value in themselves. Wealth, ability, culture or colour are irrelevant. We will always endeavor to support anyone wanting to provide a space where these values are upheld.

That was and is the purpose of the Sanctuary Camping Club. To provide havens and sanctuary. To escape and reconnect with the shared love and joy of life and to respect and look after each other.

SEE YOU SOON……

We continue to look forward to working with you as the Sanctuary Camping Club or working with you on our sustainable design projects.

Meanwhile, be safe, be well, be happy.

Lots of love and thank you to everyone,

April and Jeff xx
