Diversity in Innovation and Creativity
In North Norfolk, sustainable living is an ever growing choice for many people.
Blessed with uncompromisingly beautiful surroundings, awareness of the need for sustainable lifestyle is rapidly growing.
We have a wonderful response wherever we’ve exhibited. We like to think we inspire as well as sell. Rubbish is only rubbish when an object’s current form is compromised. That might be through change in fashion, wear and tear or outdated function. More and more people are beginning to understand that. More people are creating beautiful pieces from wast and / or truly sustainable materials.
This gentleman, who we came across at a show in Felbrigg, has become one of our favourites https://ablazebowls.co.uk/ There’s a beautiful rustic simplicity about his work. It’s eye catching and aesthetically pleasing. North Norfolk is a rural area, tractors and heavy machinery abounds. Machinery dies or technology improves and the waste is huge but fascinating.
We have a couple of vintage tractor based pieces, TRAPDOOR TABLE and another extremely heavy bench that we haven’t finished yet, created from 1950’s tractor lifting arms….. amongst other things.
WONDERFUL EATING
In terms of lifestyle, we’re also delighted to see some wonderful food outlets. They embrace sustainable local produce with mouth watering menus. This is our absolute favourite https://www.shamblescafenorfolk.co.uk/ The Shambles not only serves incredible quality food at affordable prices, but their ethos is perfect. It’s run as a CIC with all profits turned back into a myriad of wonderful community and arts related things.
AND THERE’S MORE…..
We’re going to add a page of wonderful links to the things we consider genuinely sustainable and wonderful around North Norfolk. That by the way, is an idea I’ve just come up with whilst writing now, because you’re worth it….. I’ve also just realised that there are quite a few and too many to list.
