Soul Food
What feeds our spirit…..?
We’ve done some interesting things this summer from repairing 16th Century property to airing our work at some lovely shows. A wonderful summer all in all. Strumpshaw Tree Fayre however, was what really fed our spirits. That was the highlight of this year’s soul food.
Showing what we’re made of…
We’re clearly made of good things, the response has been fantastic. We now know who you are and what you want, which is essentially what we’re doing.
You ALL love a story and each item has its own history, transformation and then a new story with you. What will you add? We love that, never ending reinventions and an accumulation of lives and stories.
That’s pretty much the end of shows for us. Much as we’ve loved them and meeting you all, our purpose was to meet you and see what you think and we did. Lovely. Soul food in itself.
Strumpshaw Tree Fayre was however, the most wonderful event and out of everything, that was our finest dose of soul food. Highly recommended and who knows, time allowing we may be tempted back, just for the sheer joy of it.
Evolving Buildings
A very lovely friend of ours had a selection of doors and windows ranging from 16th Century to the 1980’s that no one else would repair. They are all part of a rich tapestry that forms the character of his most incredible home but craftsmanship with wood seems to be very much a thing of the past and because he didn’t want to replace anything with new, he asked us very nicely to rebuild them.
Wonderful! Nerve racking in parts, painstaking but actually, a very rewarding endeavor that also in truth, fed our souls…..
History is everything before right now. That’s our conclusion. Everything that has been added to a building, however unsightly or unfashionable at a later point in time, is actually relevant and important to that building’s evolution. A little bit of JAD tweaking and it all ties together.
