Black Swan of the Norfolk Broads
Created from a recycled snooker table and industrial stainless steel waste

Black Swans weren’t specifically the inspiration for SWAN but it is perhaps my favouirite piece. Impossible to appreciate without being in its presence. She stands around 6ft tall.

We saw black swans waiting expectantly for food tit bits in the warmer water of a dyke by one of our local pubs last week. Striking by their colour, equally beautiful as their white counterparts.

We incredibly blessed to live in the midst of such a diverse and beautiful environment. It made me realise how much our work reflects it. Appropriate I feel, as the materials that we use come either directly from it or are rescued from the waste that inevitably would otherwise destroy it.

We love what we do and it adds to the warmth of satisfaction when these sorts of reminders appear. We’d love to inspire people to reuse rather than waste and we’d love to feel that we can help bring an awareness of the damage we do through the constant drive to follow trends. ‘Fashion’ is so transient, it has no need for sustainability or even durability. It leeches money through a system that values fickle appearance over humanity and our poor battered planet.

There is courage in choice outside the boundaries of fashion. We personally, seem to have created our life outside most boxes. Not everyone understands or accepts that but actually, so what? We’re happy.

Feel us through what we create and feel the environment in which we create it. Be you, you’re lovely exactly as you are. xx
