limestone sculpture 13th Century Thurne Church Reclaimed Sustainable J.A.D.Eclectic

You may remember that way back in June I added a post about a beautiful piece of sandstone that we were lucky enough to get hold of? It has the most wonderful heritage and welcomed people to the Church for nearly 900 years. St Edmund’s Thurne Church sits in the beautiful North Norfolk countryside and incidentally, by a rather good pub…

And now…..

Thought, passion and an intrinsic belief in the unity of all spirits, provoked the rebirth of the stone. A Polynesian symbol for the journey of life, love, friendship, loyalty, eternity and the joining of people/ cultures.

Carved by hand and incredibly tactile. It always amazes me that stone invites touch. Perhaps it’s not the material but the sentiment.

Sacrilegious? We absolutely do not think so. Those very early days of the church were founded in spirituality and brought people of different beliefs together. In other words, we have just used an evolved message that addresses the whole of this incredible planet that we live on. The sculpture now displays a sentiment that whatever your beliefs, hopefully we can all join together in love and friendship anyway.

See the finished sculpture….

See more about this beautiful stone and its original stonemason’s marks left in tact. That’s the mark of someone’s skills from almost 900 years ago …. https://www.jadeclectic.com/limestone-sculpture/
